Nijmegen - North / Waal bank

'Comparative chromatic study river bank Waal / river dike - Nijmegen-north'

On the river bank of the Waal near Nijmegen, we took samples of plants that grew on both sides of the dike. In combined residue photos we show the influence of the environment on these identical plants; the two halves of the photo show the difference in hue. (Along the banks of these rivers we collected leaves, stems, flowers, seeds, fruits, roots and bark from plants and trees and used our residue process to extract their pigments.)

This project also includes the "Gifts of the River" series, using a special sandwich technique consisting of a photogram and transparent print on duraclear, created multiple photographic images capturing washed-up objects on the banks of the Waal.
